One Hell of a performance

For the best ever description of Hell - and I'm not talking about the 8:30am journey down the Northern Line - you must see this fascinating adaptation of James Joyce's 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' at the deliciously idiosyncratic Pentameters Theatre in Hampstead. Be warned against sitting in the front row, as you're likely to be sprayed with invective as the doctrine-fuelled Catholic priest delivers his fevered lecture on what to expect in the afterlife should you take the wrong turn. Imaginative choreography, powerful performances, big on voice and improvisation www.pentameters.co.uk/theunrestcure.html

  1. Wonderful effort! But I'm little bit puzzled by the line 'Artist as a Young Man'! Doesn't an artist is actually young!! I think an artist is a creative person and by his/her creativity he/she makes innovative stuff regularly so he can't be old by the age but young by the new thoughts. Thanks!

    1. Thanks for your comment Martha. Little be it my place to question the wisdom of the great James Joyce in choosing the title 'A portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' for his acclaimed semi-autobiographical novel, though I will concede it was remiss of me to edit out the 'A' at the beginning of this title in my post. On your broader point, what a lovely idea - that, by dint of our creativity, we will never grow old - I think this is true on the spiritual plane, but on the physical, the reality is rather less glamorous. All best.
